Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the foundation of most western massage modalities. It is profoundly therapeutic, and it is still the most popular form of massage in this region of the world. During a Swedish massage the client is supported by a massage table. With the aid of lotions or oils and primarily using the hands, the massage therapist applies Swedish techniques directly onto a client’s skin, with intent to positively affect the muscles and soft tissues of the body as well as the client’s overall state of being.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is a Japanese bodywork style, derived from Chinese medicine concepts, that uses a variety of techniques including compression, rocking, shaking, vibration, friction, and stretching to work with the meridians and the physical body to restore balance and maintain health.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release (MFR) refers to a group of manual techniques used to reduce Myofascial restrictions. Fascia is a type of connective tissue that surrounds all internal structures in the body. If it becomes adhered, dysfunctions can develop. The Myofascial Release technique uses gentle techniques that enhance the effects of neuromuscular trigger point techniques as well as addressing the whole body.

Acucraniatsu

Acucraniatsu is extremely versatile with the full range of touch possibilities from deep tissue to subtle touch. The work is done over clothes, and can be used in any environment.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stones is an ancient body-relaxing process used by Native Americans to achieve deep muscular relaxation, increased circulation and heightened spiritual awareness. Hot Stone Massage incorporates this ancient process by heating body-appropriate-sized stones (typically basalt) to 150 degrees then expertly placing them on key points of the body. Choreographed with Swedish massage techniques and unique bodywork sensitivities, hot stone massage is an effective way to reduce stress, decrease pain from carpal tunnel, arthritis and other chronic conditions resulting in a profoundly relaxing experience.

Chair Massage

This type of massage is done on a chair as opposed to a table. It can relieve mental and physical stress, calm the nervous system, release tight muscles and increase circulation.

Carpal Tunnel

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the palm of the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. The median nerve controls sensations to the palm side of the thumb and fingers (although not the little finger), as well as impulses to some small muscles in the hand that allow the fingers and thumb to move. The carpal tunnel – a narrow, rigid passageway of ligament and bones at the base of the hand – houses the median nerve and tendons. Sometimes, thickening from irritated tendons or other swelling narrows the tunnel and causes the median nerve to be compressed. The result may be pain, weakness, or numbness in the hand and wrist, radiating up the arm. Although painful sensations may indicate other conditions, carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common and widely known of the entrapment neuropathies in which the body’s peripheral nerves are compressed or traumatized.

Lymph Drainage

Lymph Drainage is an extraordinary body movement technique that focuses on the congestion and restricted areas of the Lymphatic System. Congestion of the lymph nodes, Lymphoid tissue, and the lymph glands is the cause of many of our illnesses.

Facilitated Stretch

Experience the benefits of passive, resistive, and active isolated stretching. Discover the physiological principles behind stretching, stretching benefits, and strategies for adopting stretching as a part of your lifestyle.

Accupressure Foundation

Accupressure is a gentle listening style that uses finger pressure at meridian points to improve the health by balancing the flow of energy and fluids in the body. Qi (energy), yin/yang theory, 5-element theory, meridians, and acupressure points are all involved. Focus will include a selection of frequently used acu-points tailored to your needs.
