Lowry McFerrin
As a certified massage practitioner, specializing in therapeutic massage, Lowry McFerrin, CMP, works to bring wellness and comfort to those who seek it.
In 2010 he retired from his position as President and Chief Executive Officer of Mactec Solutions, Inc., a company that provided print and marketing solutions to businesses and individuals. Prior to that he served as Vice President-International Sales for a privately-held barcode and tape seal product manufacturer and as a member of its Board of Directors. He was responsible for creating, managing and expanding programs to support and service a global network that generated annual sales of $10 million and included several Fortune 500 companies. He was also actively involved with the Automatic Identifier Manufacturers (AIM) trade association as a committee chair, a speaker and featured author in industry trade magazines.
But his heart and hands were always devoted to the healing arts. In 1986 Lowry had enrolled in classes at the National Holistic Institute to formally study massage and earn a massage therapist certification. His plan was to develop his massage practice while working in the business world. As his responsibilities increased, the time he could dedicate to his practice decreased. It wasn’t until 2011 that he found himself in a position to give himself fully to his calling.
He began a series of classes at the McKinnon Body Therapy Center to further his training and partnered with chiropractor Kenneth Eckhardt of North Marin Chiropractic and with Margaret Gokey, Founder of California Hand Rehabilitation, as well as with Active Sports Clubs.
Through the years, Lowry has always maintained a fitness commitment. In high school he lettered in x-country, water polo and swimming (won NCS in 100 yd freestyle). In college he competed in water polo, swimming, fencing and tennis and earned his WSI certification, which enabled him to run Red Cross Swimming Programs and train lifeguards.
An avid traveler and fiddle player, he has worked with and entertained people around the world.
Today, Lowry offers therapeutic massage services at these centers as well as in his own Oakland studio. Modalities include Acucraniatsu, Accupressure, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Deep Tissue, Facilitated Stretching, Hot Stone, Lymphatic Drainage, Myofascial Release, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Swedish and Trigger Point.
